Four Reasons the 2024 MG Garden Show Is A Must!

Did you save the date for the Albemarle Master Gardener Spring Garden Show at the Perquimans Recreation Center on Saturday, April 27?

The Extension Master Gardener Volunteers of Chowan, Gates and Perquimans are busy getting ready to present their 12th Spring Garden Show, “Gardening in the Albemarle,” at the Perquimans County Recreation Center, 310 Granby Street, Hertford, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Here are great four great reasons to attend:

Plants for spring plantings and container gardens: Our Master Gardeners are getting plants from their own gardens ready for you to transplant into your garden beds. Plus a variety of plant vendors will be bringing a myriad of bedding plants to get your vegetable garden off to a good start plus a wide variety of ornamental flowers to boost your landscape appeal.

Yard decor: Our creative vendors will be happy to share with you their treasures guaranteed to make your garden a special place. You will be able to find home-made birdhouses and birdbaths, yard art, pottery, wire art, gnomes, wooden garden accents, fairy garden kits, stained-glass creations, and much, much more!

Fun: Come early and treat yourself to hot coffee and a pastry or two from the Master Gardeners’ Bake Table. The “Children’s Corner” provides a great place for your children or grandchildren to get in touch with nature while you do some serious shopping. “Ask A Master Gardener” Booth will be manned throughout the day to help you solve those annoying gardening problems. And who doesn’t enjoy a chance or two to win some great gardening products at our Raffle Table?

Scholarship: This show is our only fundraising event held to support the Katherine G. Shook Master Gardener Scholarship, which is awarded each year to students from Gates, Perquimans or Chowan counties who are pursuing a career in agriculture, horticulture or a related field.

Come help support our local students!
