Gardening in the Albemarle: March 2026

Are you an avid gardener that is new to the region? Maybe a long-time resident, just gaining your green thumb? Join us for this 4-week class series, Gardening in the Albemarle. We will work through gardening topics, research-based recommendations and demonstrations that are specific to gardening success in this region. Topics include soils, lawns, pest management, native plants and vegetable gardening.

Classes will be held each Thursday morning during March 2026 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m at the Perquimans County Extension Center.

The dates and tentative topic schedule are listed below:
  • March 5, 2026: Soils and Lawns
  • March 12, 2026: Integrated Pest Management and Weed Management 
  • March 19, 2026: Landscape Design, Plant Selection and Native Plants
  • March 26, 2026: Vegetable Gardening, Fruit Trees and Garden Maintenance

The cost for this 4-week course is $20. This includes learning materials and supplies for hands-on activities.
