It is that time of year again where we start planning and registering for the Albemarle Area 4-H Livestock Show & Sale. The show will be held on April 26 & 27, 2022 at the Livestock Arena in Elizabeth City.

Registration must be completed ONLINE. Youth must also be signed up on 4-H Online, be sure to sign up as a member at large. If you have previously enrolled on 4-H Online, instructions for re-enrollment can be found HERE. If you have never been enrolled on 4-H Online, enrollment instructions can be found HERE.

The Albemarle Area 4-H Livestock Show and Sale will be hosting a hands on information session for youth and families who might be interested in starting to show livestock. This event will be held on Saturday, February 5th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Albemarle Area 4-H Livestock Arena located at 864 Sun Gro Drive, Elizabeth City NC 27909. There will be animals on site as well as families to talk to you about exhibiting livestock and answer any questions that you might have. If you are interested in attending please call our office at 252-331-7630.

We are also offering assistance in securing hogs for youth choosing to show a hog this year. The cost will range from $225-$250 per hog, and you must contact our office no later than January 20th at 5:00 p.m.

Some important dates to remember are:
March 1st-15th: Goats, Lambs, Pigs Tagging
April 1st: Deadline to fill out animal take home form (A google form will be sent to all participants in mid March)
April 1st: All steers/heifers need to demonstrate being halter broken to Livestock agent by this date
April 20th: All raffle tickets and money needs to be turned into your County N.C. Cooperative Extension Office
April 23rd: Set-up arena for the show at 8:00 a.m.
April 26th: Goat, Steer and Heifer Show
April 27th: Hog and Lamb Show and Auction
April 30th: Break-down of show, 8:00 a.m.
May 12th: Livestock records, project record books and scholarship applications due to your county N.C. Cooperative Extension Office
